I remember how scared I was, and quite frankly intimidated by the “interview”. I hoped I was making the right decision, quite frankly, I had no idea whether he was the right one for me or not. I hired him because he had represented the wife of a friend, and this lawyer put him through hell, and I wanted that!
So? What’s wrong with that? EVERYTHING! Now, don’t get me wrong, I like my lawyer, he was a good guy, and all’s well that ends well, right? No. I didn’t know what the hell I was doing! I didn’t know what questions to ask, and I didn’t even realize that I could have said “no”. I swear, I wrote that check, you know, the “retainer” check, and in my mind’s eye, I kissed that check and prayed I was doing the right thing. It ended up that I should have done things a little backwards if I wanted to save money, but I simply didn’t know a better way to do it. Do you ever feel like that?
Here is a webinar that I did with Ilene Schnall, a family attorney in the Fort Lauderdale area. I asked her to tell me what were the top questions she gets asked most often, and most importantly, the ones we SHOULD ask! Here are the questions she hears most often, and if you watch the video, you will hear her answers, but more importantly, you’ll hear the questions you should be asking, and Ilene will give you tips on how you can save time, money and your sanity! Look below for the link to this valuable video!
1) My Husband wants just to use mediation and for me not to have my own lawyer. Will that save me money?
2) I think I made some mistakes, and I don’t want to tell my lawyer. Is it better to keep my personal things personal and not tell my lawyer?
3) My spouse tells me I will be broke, never see my children, etc, what do I do?
4) My friends, who have gone through the divorce processare giving me advice on their experience….should I listen?
